Keeping Letterpress Alive

Michelle Johnson, owner and creator of Runaway Press, letterpress printed for the first time in college and fell in love with the history, process and experimental nature of this truly amazing craft. Her aim is to educate others about the traditional process of letterpress and keep that process alive, as well as create unique letterpress pieces for lovers of handmade, hand-printed art and ephemera. She prints on an antique proofing press from the 1940's. She also uses antique lead and wood type as well as vintage blocks to create her work.
